I’m Going to Sage the World

Chasing away the demons, ghosts, and evil spirits

I don’t care
if I have to use
witchcraft to do it
but I don’t want to hear
the discordant voices
and feel the negative energies
that cause the world
so much strife

So, I light a smudge stick
to clear our planet
of the unpleasant tension
it has accumulated
over the years
that now lurks within our walls,
and harbors in our bodies,
making it a cause for great concern

I smudge
with sage and palo santo
and its invisible hand
that removes and absorbs
the enmity that has hardened
this world
