The Wooden Urn of Memories

Setting my mother free

In your honor,
I set free your earthly remains
from the wooden urn of memories,
so your fate can guide you
in your journey
for lasting peace.

I release you into the moving waters,
the swirls of your destiny,
where there is no sin
or religion to restrain you,
no public opinions
to alienate you from others.

You are now wiped clean
of all your human flaws,
the misery of the past,
and scattered to the sea
with your ancestors
and spirit guides.

Return to the water, dear Mother,
from where you have risen,
the vast vista of promises,
the coral reds and oranges,
so you can alter your shape,
regenerate your soul
and resume the cycle of samsara.
